Released in 1948, Land Rover has always focused on bringing modern vehicles with high-end performance and tech. A host of cars have been launched by Land Rover over the years from the Discovery to the Range Rover Series that started with the Classic in 1970.
When we talk about a great car, we don’t just talk about the looks it possesses. The car also has to have some grit and an explosion of power whenever it starts. Therefore, to keep a great balance between the luxurious looks and high-end performance, Land Rover has always focused on producing top-notch engines.
Of those top-quality engines, the v8 Diesel is one of them too. The v8 was targeted to be a part of popular Range Rovers mainly the Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover Vogue. These variants also came with other engine choices, but the v8 Diesel brought a significant balance to the car in every way.
The Range Rover Sport has always been a popular Range Rover ever since being released in 2005. With great capability in both off-road and on-road drives, the car is a very interesting option for those seeking to purchase an all-rounder SUV. It also gives a great blend of luxury, performance and specifically sporty looks as its name suggests.
The Range Rover Sport is not a cheap SUV at all and is a very striking SUV, to say the least. A flashy exterior with modern parts and a top-end sporty interior when combined with a solid engine, the car surely becomes a very exciting option to have as an SUV user.
Range Rover Sport History
The Range Rover Sport was released to give a twist in the design of the existing Range Rover classic. There were no Range Rovers with sporty designs, and Land Rover saw this opportunity to design one for the public. The first-gen had a 4.4L v8 Diesel engine alongside a 2.7 v6 Diesel turbo engine.
In 2009, engine options were given a refresh and Land Rover included more options like the 3.0L v6 Diesel and a v8 5.0L Petrol option. In 2013, the design was given a much-needed refresh with several changes made to the interior and exterior. Engine options were upgraded as well with the 3.0L Diesel and a 4.4L Ford Diesel choice that gave possible buyers great flexibility in engine choices.
In the Petrol engine side, the 5.0L supercharged Petrol was an option alongside a hybrid 2.0L petrol combined with an electric motor. This second generation is currently going on since and is quite popular among the Range Rover fans.
Range Rover Sport Review
The Range Rover Sport comes with all the options needed for a great on-road and off-road experience. The second-gen, released in 2013, received several upgrades including a compulsory 4x4 with a complete aluminum body.
The engine options in the Range Rover Sport were quite attractive in the first generation but when it came to fuel efficiency, the car lagged behind its competitors. Land Rover changed that with the release of the second generation Sport in 2013 with the release of the SDV6 Diesel engine. This engine fared well when it came to fuel-efficiency but struggled to be eco-friendly, which became its serial drawback.
Then came the P400e hybrid option, which was very eco-friendly and designed for those who also wanted their car to be environment-friendly. The option was included with the second-gen Sport, and it is very nice of Range Rover to give its customers a plethora of engine options to choose from.
When you step inside the car, that is when you eventually begin to feel the luxury and aura that comes with Range Rover SUVs. With fine Oxford leather used and a very sporty looking interior, Range Rover did a great job with the interior, but there were some complaints about the old, drab infotainment system.
This was resolved with the second generation Range Rover Sport which had an updated infotainment system with a 10-inch LED. This change was very much needed and with the number of critics increasing, it was a good decision to make the change in the second generation Range Rover Sport.
The inside isn’t the biggest interior ever but big enough for six to seven people to go on a long journey without too much hassle. Land Rover has never compromised on the practicality aspects of their cars, which is what made them popular in the 1900s. There is more than enough legroom and headroom for the passengers hence making for a good journey experience.
Range Rover Sport v8 Diesel Options
The Range Rover Sport mainly comes with two V8 options in the Diesel category. The first is the 368DT 3.6L Diesel engine while the other is a 4.4L 448DT v8 Diesel engine. The latter is the stronger engine of the two and is more expensive too as a result.
